'Surjit Singh Barnala' saved us...!!

One of the rarest thing tht will/can never happen again in my life, was when i was holding a pen and writing down the answers for a preliminary round in a QUIZ competition...I know U'll be wondering wat's so rare about this Hahaha . "Quiz competition naalle antha paakamae ponathu kedayaathu, Enna enakku General Knowledge um kedayaathu, Answer Thenjinja maathiri  Nadikkavum theriyaathu !! "           ( I generally don't take part in quizzes bcoz I dont have General Knowledge plus I dunno how to pretend as if i know the answers ) . :P

There were about 15-20 teams (2-3 members per team ) in a big classroom, who were waiting for the Quiz question paper. I came there and sat there bcoz, My frnd had a good GK ( probably bcoz he was reading the newspaper daily  :P ). We thought we can atleast give it a try, So we sat there waiting for the paper. In sometime, they started distributing the paper. The guy standing on the podium shouted, " U guys have exactly 10 min to complete the paper ". I was like, " 1 hour koduthaale ithukku answer yezhuthurathu kastam, 10 min la onnum panna mudiyaathu machi,Vaa kelambalaam " ( Even if they give us 1 hour, its damn difficult to figure out the answers for these questions, they are giving us only 10 min , Come lets leave ).


My friend saw the paper and started jotting down the answers for the questions he knew. Meanwhile I was looking around to see how others were answering the paper. He finished answering 6 questions ( out of 10 ) in 5 minutes. We had last 5 minutes left, I said ,"Ok come lets go and submit the paper". But I still had a small doubt and was wondering, we finished the paper so fast but other's around were still writing. Suddenly there was a team which came in front of us and asked us for a pen ( Guess they didnt write their college name in the paper ) They put their paper on our desk and wrote watever they had to write. In the process my frnd had a glimpse of their paper. He saw the answer for a question ( He didn't note the question number but noted tht the question was the 5th one from the top ) which was "Surjit Singh Barnala ". We suddenly wanted to verify if we had written the same answer and saw the question and were shocked. The question was "Who was the father of automobiles ?". We were laughing amongst ourselves thinking about the answer he had written.

After 2 minutes we turned the paper and realized that there was one more side which had 10 more questions  and the 5th question from top was " Who was our Governor ( in 2010 ) of TamilNadu ? "and realized tht          "Surjit Singh Barnala" was the answer for tht one.We had only 3 minutes left and my frnd was literally scribbling the remaining answers in the remaining time. They came and took our paper at the end of 10th min. We had successfully answered 15 questions correctly. We waited for the results and our team was selected for the finals. We remembered tht guy and wanted to thank him for giving us a clue.

Even though we finished 4th in the finals out of 6 teams. Coming this far in QUIZ was really big for me and it was "Surjit Singh Barnala" who saved us and qualified us to the FINALS :) We finally went and thanked tht guy, But he didnt even understand why and wat we were thanking him for :)
